Lithuanian President on influential Ukrainians meeting in Vilnius: we do not talk with Zelensky about this

VILNIUS. Dec 3 (BNS) – Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said he did not discuss with his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky the recent meeting of influential Ukrainians in Vilnius, but he intends to do so in the future.

The Lithuanian leader spoke remotely with Zelensky and Polish President Andrzej Duda on Thursday.

In Shalchininkai, Nauseda told reporters the officials did not talk about that yesterday, since the meeting was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, because both Poland and Lithuania recognized Ukraine’s independence 30 years ago.

"We actively communicate and I think we will have a chance to talk about what took place in Lithuania and openly look into certain circumstances," he said.

When asked by BNS if he knew for what purpose the richest Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov came to the Lithuanian capital, he replied that he did not want to go into details until he discussed it with Zelensky.

"I do not want to go into details until I have the president’s agreement for this specific topic," the Lithuanian leader said.

At the same time, he welcomed the fact that relations with Ukraine at the moment are "sincere and open," and expressed the hope that they will remain the same in the future.
