Law firms Miller Canfield from USA, Dictio from Ukraine sign affiliation agreement
KYIV. Sept 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Miller Canfield, one of the largest law firms in Michigan with 19 offices in the USA, Canada, China, Poland, Mexico and Qatar, and Dictio, a boutique law office in Ukraine, have signed an affiliation agreement and are starting cooperation.
"We have joined forces in order to assist clients in the present humanitarian efforts and in Ukraine’s recovery and reconstruction," according to a joint statement of the companies.
According to it, priority areas of cooperation in the near future are the reconstruction/construction of residential and industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, and infrastructure (roads, bridges, engineering networks).
It is expected that thanks to this agreement, international clients of Miller Canfield will have access to legal support in Ukraine, and Dictio clients will have access to the international network of Miller Canfield offices.
"This expansion into Ukraine is a strategic decision in an area that is important to Miller Canfield. With three offices in Poland, we have been providing aid and advice to many organizations working with Ukrainian refugees, including medical and charitable groups," Miller Canfield CEO Megan Norris said.
"Rebuilding Ukraine’s infrastructure, housing stock and healthcare facilities will be a massive undertaking, involving billions in foreign aid to Ukraine and the participation of American and European companies," Miller Canfield Principal Richard Walawender said.
"We have joined forces just in time to help clients navigate the challenges and opportunities created by the Ukrainian government’s United24 Recovery initiative," Olena Shtohryn, managing partner of Dictio, who specializes in construction law and real estate law and advises the Construction Confederation of Ukraine, commented on the agreement.
Miller Canfield headquarters in Detroit has over 200 attorneys.
Dictio Law Firm is a Ukrainian boutique firm providing legal advice in all areas of business law, with a focus on real estate and construction, domestic and foreign direct investments, dispute resolution and bankruptcy.
