Latvian delegation hands over 8 tonnes of humanitarian cargo to Ukrainian side during visit to JFO zone – Defense Ministry

KYIV. Aug 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – A delegation of the Republic of Latvia headed by the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Defense Baiba Bļodniece traveled to the area of ​​the Joint Forces operation and handed over eight tonnes of humanitarian cargo to the Ukrainian side.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, on August 26 in Severodonetsk, the delegation met with head of Luhansk regional state administration Serhiy Haidai.

"The Latvian delegation handed over to the Ukrainian side eight tonnes of humanitarian cargo, which will be delivered by civil-military cooperation units from the Joint Forces to families in need of help," it said.

Blodniece also said that the Republic of Latvia will continue to support Ukraine in the protection of territorial integrity and European integration.

"We support the political and economic integration of Ukraine into the European Union. I will note that we will never recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia and the occupation of the territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The wisdom and strength of the Ukrainian government and its citizens are very strong, and you will win," the secretary of the Latvian Defense Ministry said.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Maliar said that the Republic of Latvia is a reliable partner and friend of Ukraine, providing invaluable assistance.

Also, representatives of the Ministries of Defense of Ukraine and Latvia got acquainted with the infrastructure of the entry-exit checkpoint Schastia.

In general, this is already 23 humanitarian cargo, handed over by the Latvian delegation.
