Kyiv signs loan agreement with EBRD for EUR 140 mln to develop thermal infrastructure
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv City State Administration, municipal enterprise Kyivteploenergo and the EUR opean Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) have signed a loan agreement for EUR 140 million for the development of thermal infrastructure in the capital.
"The implementation of the program will help improve energy efficiency and reduce the consumption of energy resources – natural gas, electricity and water. But the main thing is that the implementation of large-scale modernization projects will improve the quality and reliability of services for Kyiv residents," the press service of Kyiv City State Administration said citing Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
In addition to credit financing, the city will allocate EUR 26 million of its own funds for the implementation of the project.
The EBRD expressed its readiness to continue cooperation with Kyiv in the implementation of other infrastructure projects.
As reported, Kyiv City Council approved the attraction of this loan for up to 13 years in April this year, authorizing the mayor of the city to sign a guarantee agreement with the EBRD. In July, the bank approved the loan.
The most ambitious project under the credit program is the installation of modern cogeneration equipment at CHPP-6. Within the framework of energy efficient measures at CHPP-5, it is planned to build a condensing economizer, which will allow using the residual energy of flue gases for heat production. Similar equipment has been operating at CHPP-6 for three years.
