Kyiv considers China's statements about alleged smuggling of Western weapons from Ukraine as insinuations
KYIV. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry categorically rejects the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s statements about the alleged smuggling of Western weapons from Ukraine and calls on the Chinese side not to be a tool in the hands of Russian propaganda, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oleh Nikolenko has said.
“Chinese Foreign Ministry: Weapons supplied by the United States to Ukraine are often smuggled into the hands of criminal groups in Europe and other regions. We categorically reject the insinuations about the alleged smuggling of Western weapons from Ukraine. Our state has a modern effective system of control over the receipt and use of weapons, which enjoys high confidence from partners,” Nikolenko said on Facebook.
The Foreign Ministry said this control system is multi-level and completely excludes any possibility of illegal export of weapons.
“Russia is investing numerous resources in disinformation to undermine international military assistance to Ukraine. We urge the Chinese side to be guided solely by facts and not be a tool in the hands of Russian propaganda,” the ministry said.
