Kyiv airport intends to develop sector of cargo transportation – development director
KYIV. Aug 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kyiv Ihor Sikorsky International Airport sees the cargo transportation sector as promising for itself and intends to develop it, Yevhen Belik, the airport development director, has said.
"During the global crisis in 2020, the trend in freight traffic in the world went up. We also see this niche promising, we will definitely develop it. If earlier Kyiv airport was rather skeptical about cargo transportation, now we have a new vision of expanding this sector," he said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
At the same time, Belik noted that everything will depend on how the airport will conduct partnerships with large aggregators and providers.
"But we will be able to speak on this topic more systematically when we have a new runway," the development director emphasized.
According to him, SprintAir (Poland), which carries mail and light cargo, currently flies to Kyiv airport on a regular basis.
