Kuleba: We working to make 'diplomatic land' under feet of Russians burn these days
(Paragraphs 4-10 have been added)
KYIV. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The entire diplomatic team of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and he personally are working to ensure that these days the “diplomatic land” under the feet of the Russians is on fire, and it will be so, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
“The entire diplomatic team of President Zelenskyy and he personally are working to ensure that, literally, these days, the diplomatic ground under the feet of the Russians is on fire. And it will be so. There will be decisions on powerful sanctions, there will be decisions on weapons,” Kuleba said in a video address from on the sidelines of the UN, published on Facebook.
The minister said that also during the visit, he is holding meetings with some colleagues from countries supplying weapons to Ukraine to speed up this process.
“Yesterday, today and tomorrow we are working day and night with all UN member states. There is a key issue – the resolution of the General Assembly, we need maximum votes. To do this, you need to work with everyone,” he said.
Kuleba said Russia is doing everything to “knock down the number of votes and overwhelm the resolution.”
“Belarus decided to play along with them and, in fact, on behalf of Russia, made its own amendments to the resolution. A lot of pressure, but we are working. We work with each country, regardless of the region, its size and influence in the international arena,” Kuleba said.
The head of the Foreign Ministry said every vote is important, and today the scoreboard of the UN General Assembly will show the result of the vote.
“I am sure we will defeat all the procedural attempts of Russia to fill it up. When the result of the vote is revealed, this will be the picture of the world,” he said.
The minister said February 24 will be a year since the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia, but in fact, the war started by Russia against Ukraine has been going on for the ninth year.
“You will see, you can already see that the whole world is actually with us, in one form or another. Someone is more open, someone is less, but Russia on a global scale… and those who vote with it are in global isolation,” Kuleba said.
