Kuleba: Ukraine, Poland ready to jointly counter threats to energy security, stability of European continent
KYIV. Oct 5 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During a working visit to Poland, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba held talks with Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, in particular, they discussed Poland’s chairmanship in the OSCE in 2022, the threats of Nord Stream 2 to the energy security of Europe, a number of issues of bilateral interaction, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine said.
Nord Stream 2 undermines the security not only of Ukraine and Poland, but of whole Europe. Russia is already deliberately destabilizing gas supplies to European consumers and creating chaos in the market by driving up gas prices. Ukraine and Poland are ready to jointly counter the threats to energy security and stability of the European continent," the MFA press service said, citing Kuleba on Tuesday.
The ministers stressed the importance of the planned integration of the Ukrainian energy system into the European ENTSO-E.
The foreign ministers paid special attention to the Polish chairmanship of the OSCE in 2022. "Zbigniew Rau said that the end of the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict and the de-occupation of Crimea will remain the key priorities of Poland’s chairmanship in the OSCE. He expressed his readiness to actively contribute to the implementation of the tasks of the Crimea platform," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Kuleba invited Rau, as OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, to visit the contact line with the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions in early 2022.
The Foreign Ministers of Ukraine and Poland separately discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, in particular, the implementation of the agreements reached following the visit of Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal to Poland on September 9.
Kuleba also raised the issue of the death of Ukrainian citizen Dmytro Nykyforenko in Wroclaw. "In response, Zbigniew Rau confirmed the commitment of the Polish side to conduct an objective investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
