Kuleba: Russia finishes Normandy format with its actions
KYIV. Nov 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russia demonstrates that it is not interested in the development of the Normandy format to resolve the situation in eastern Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmyro Kuleba has said.
"With its actions, Russia is simply finishing off the Normandy format, demonstrating that it is not interested in its development, and, surely, undermining the rest of its credibility," Kuleba said at an online briefing on Thursday.
He said he had agreed with the foreign ministers of Germany and France that they "will not give Russia the luxury of destroying the Normandy format with someone else’s hands."
"We will work to involve Russia in the negotiation process, in diplomatic efforts to resolve this conflict. The fact that even diplomats cannot trust Russia after such a publication [the publication of diplomatic correspondence between the heads of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Germany and France], will undoubtedly complicate this work, but we will work because Ukraine is interested in peace, fair decisions and security," the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Kuleba said the only alternative to the diplomatic process is the military process.
"Ukraine together with Germany and France insist and will continue to insist that we need to move through the implementation of the Minsk agreements, through the further functioning of the Normandy format," he said.
