Kuleba: Partners working out specific actions in support of Ukraine resisting Russia's aggression
KYIV. Nov 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said that following his talks in Washington and Brussels, Ukraine’s key partners support it and are ready to restrain Russia from further aggressive actions not only in words, but also in concrete actions.
"Statements are important, one should not underestimate their importance. But the recipe for success is statements, sanctions and military support for Ukraine. Unlike spring, when the partners limited themselves to words of support, now they are working out concrete actions in support of Ukraine in resisting the aggression of the Russian Federation. They will take these steps to restrain Russia from further aggressive actions," Kuleba said on the air of the 1+1 TV channel on Wednesday, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy recalled that the deployment of Russia’s military infrastructure along the Ukrainian border in the spring was not just an attempt to intimidate Ukraine, but a concrete strengthening of the strategic positions of the Russian armed forces.
"One needs to take threats seriously, but without panic. Everyone is working and realistically assessing the situation," he said.
Kuleba pointed out that the joint statement of the French and German foreign ministers after the trilateral meeting with him in Brussels was "unprecedentedly clear and tough with regard to Russia."
According to the minister, the French and German partners made it clear to Russia that new aggressive actions would have consequences.
Kuleba also noted that Ukraine, together with partners, is working to strengthen the border with Belarus – we are talking about both engineering strengthening and physical presence, the exchange of intelligence data with partners, enhanced border reconnaissance in order to maximally protect the northern border of Ukraine.
