Kuleba, OSCE Foreign Ministers discuss armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine
KYIV. Dec 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine key in the list of challenges to European security in his speech at a meeting of the OSCE Council of Foreign Ministers in Stockholm.
"Dmytro Kuleba spoke at the plenary session, setting out to the ministers of the OSCE participating States and OSCE partners the vision of Ukraine regarding the key events of 2021 in the Organization’s space and their impact on European security. The head of Ukrainian diplomacy stressed that Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine, which, in particular, is a gross violation of the principles and obligations assumed by the Russian Federation within the framework of the Organization," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ukraine said.
The Minister drew attention of the OSCE participating States to the build-up of Russian forces along the border with Ukraine, the danger of a new Russian invasion, and called for mobilizing efforts to support Ukraine and the implementation of a comprehensive package of restraining the Russian Federation from a new wave of aggression against our state.
A special role in efforts to resolve the Russian-Ukrainian armed conflict continues to be played by the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine, which records the illegal military activity of the Russian Federation in the temporarily occupied parts of Donbas.
Ukraine submitted a draft final decision of the OSCE Ministerial Council on establishing permanent monitoring at border areas, which was supported by 36 participating States. At the same time, this year the Council of Ministers is being held with the physical presence of 57 delegations of the OSCE participating States.
Reportedly, Kuleba also took part in a side event on the situation in Crimea and upcoming steps within the Crimean platform called Crimea Platform: A Way Forward, which was joined by representatives of the Crimean platform expert network.
The Minister also took part in a special event organized by the Swedish Chairmanship of the OSCE in 2021 on the freedom of movement of civilians across the contact line in Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
It is reported that the Minister held at the meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers Council five separate bilateral talks with the heads of diplomacy of the OSCE participating States: U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Zbigniew Rau, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland Tordis Kolbrun Reikdal Gilfadottir. The heads of diplomacy of Ukraine and Iceland signed an agreement that will allow the start of regular direct flights between the two countries.
