Kronospan plans to launch chipboard production in Oct 2021, production of OSB-boards in Q3 2022 in Rivne region
KYIV. Sept 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At the end of October this year, Kronospan plans to launch the production of chipboard at a new site in Horodok, Rivne region, and in the third quarter of 2022 to begin the implementation of the second phase of the project – the production of oriented strand boards (OSB), Executive Director of Kronospan Rivne LLC Pavlo Piltiai said.
"The chipboard plant in which we are investing EUR 200 million, I hope, will start work at the end of October this year, and the second stage – the production of OSB boards, in which investments will also amount to EUR 200 million, is planned to be launched in the third quarter of next year", he said at the UkraineInvest Talks: Rivne conference.
Piltiai recalled that Kronospan began investing in a new site back in 2018, but only in the middle of 2020 received permission to start architectural and construction work, it took another six months to obtain various permits and information from government agencies.
Piltiai said that to comply with all environmental standards, Kronospan Rivne plans to introduce an environment protection system (filters) at the new enterprise to protect the environment from dust and other chemical pollution.
"These are the latest European systems, each filter costs about EUR 20 million and Kronospan Rivne is the first company to install such systems on its own," the executive director said.
In addition, according to him, by the end of September it is planned to install a special module for monitoring the environment around the factory (formaldehyde, steam, other pollutants).
"We want the module to start working before the start of production activities to show people that the level of pollution will not increase and even decrease," Piltiai said.
