Kremlin says Gazprom ready to send more gas to Europe
PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. Sept 27 (Interfax) – Gazprom is ready to increase gas shipments to Europe and sign more contracts with European customers, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.
Peskov pointed at difficulties with pumping gas into underground gas storage facilities in Europe in his interview with Vladimir Solovyov in the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin television show on the Rossiya 1 (VGTRK) channel.
"One cannot fill the underground gas storage facilities in several days by simply opening the valve to full capacity. There is a technological pumping rate. If the pumping must take 30 days, it will take 30 days. Or maybe 60 or 90. I cannot say for sure. But one can’t fill it, loosely speaking, in five days or in a week. And according to all calculations, they wouldn’t be able to fill it up right now," he said.
"Is it possible to take more gas from Gazprom and store it? Yes, it is. Gazprom is ready. Furthermore, it has taken all the additional orders for now," he said.
"Is Gazprom ready to further conclude contracts? Gazprom is interested in doing this. Because our customers in Europe are our main partners. And in any circumstances, Gazprom always proves its reliability," Peskov said.
Gazprom fully meets its obligations, and "nobody has absolutely no questions," he said.
