Kernel resumes production of sunflower oil under Stozhar trademark
KYIV. Sept 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kernel agro-industrial group has resumed the production of sunflower oil under the Stozhar trademark, this became possible due to the transfer of its production from the temporarily occupied Kharkiv region to Poltava region.
According to the press release of the brand, its shipments to retail chains will soon be resumed in updated containers of 0.85l, 3l and 5l.
It is specified that with the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the production of Stozhar oil at the Kernel oil extraction plant in Vovchansk (Kharkiv region) was suspended. To resume its production, the holding arranged the supply of raw materials and invested in the necessary production facilities at the plant in Poltava.
It is announced that Stozhar oil in a new bottle will appear on store shelves from mid-September.
"Kernel hopes that this restart will be a good sign for other businesses regarding the resumption of work in Ukraine," the holding summed up.
The processing capacity of the Vovchansk oil extraction plant before the war was 330,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds per year. The plant produces unrefined sunflower oil and sunflower meal.
In turn, the Poltava oil extraction plant is designed to process up to 430,000 tonnes of sunflower per year, produces unrefined, refined, hydrated vegetable oil, as well as meal.
Before the war, Kernel ranked first in the world in the production of sunflower oil (about 7% of world production) and its export (about 12%), and was also the largest producer and seller of bottled sunflower oil in Ukraine. In addition, the company was engaged in the cultivation of other agricultural products and their sale.
