Kazakhstan signs agreements on fish exports with France and Switzerland
ALMATY. Feb 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Kazakhstan has signed agreements on fish exports with France and Switzerland, the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry’s press office said.
Kazakh Agriculture Minister Yerbol Karashukeev held a number of meetings during his visit to Brussels, where he affirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to expanding trade and economic partnership with the EU.
Karashukeyev said Kazakhstan could supply quality organic food, in particular fish products, to EU countries. “After the negotiations, the parties signed commercial agreements for the export of Kazakh fish products to France and Switzerland,” the ministry said.
Exports of Kazakh fish to EU countries, mainly Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Denmark, Austria, and Germany, increased by 50% to 8,700 tonnes in 2022.
The EU accounts for about 30% of Kazakhstan’s foreign trade. Trade in agricultural produce, mainly flax, wheat, rapeseed, and processed cereals, increased by 35.6% to $995.5 million in 2022.
