Kazakhstan introduces temporary ban on exporting coal by roadway
ALMATY. Sept 19 (Interfax) – Kazakhstan has introduced a temporary ban on exporting coal by roadway in order to prevent shipping to neighboring states for resale, the country’s Industry and Infrastructure Development Ministry said on Monday.
"The Industry and Infrastructure Development Ministry has issued Order No. 514, dated September 14, 2022, in order to limit exports of coal by roadway," the ministry said.
"A temporary ban has been introduced in response to the mass export of coal, which is intended for utility providers and social facilities, to neighboring countries for resale," the ministry said.
"The ban is a joint decision take by coal miners and regional administrations in order to achieve the targets set for the 2022-2023 heating season, and to prevent a shortage of coal during times of high demand," the ministry said.
