Kazakh president says about 30 service members, rescuers injured by blasts at ammo depot

NUR-SULTAN. Aug 26 (Interfax) – The roughly 30 people who have suffered injuries from blasts at a military garrison in the Zhambyl region in southern Kazakhstan are Emergency Situations Ministry employees and militatry service members, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

"The defense and emergency situations ministers and a deputy interior minister have departed for the Zhambyl region. A decision has been made to evacuate the residents of the nearby villages. About 30 employees of the regional emergency situations department and military service members have suffered injuries," Tokayev said on Twitter on Thursday.
