Justice Ministry files lawsuit with HACC on confiscation of assets of Russian businessman Yevtushenkov
KYIV. Aug 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine has filed a lawsuit with the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) against the well-known Russian businessman Vladimir Yevtushenkov, the beneficiary of AFK Sistema and the former co-owner of Vodafone Ukraine, for the recovery of assets belonging to him directly or indirectly to the state.
According to information on the HACC website, the composition of the jury was appointed on August 24, and the hearing of the case was scheduled for August 31.
JSC Ukrainian Research Design and Technological Institute of Transformer Building, Scientific and Engineering Center ZTZ-Service LLC, Elektrozavod-VIT LLC, ITM-Ukraine LLC, Smart Digital Solutions and JSC HC Elektrozavod are third parties in the case.
As the Institute of Legislative Ideas said, this is the first such lawsuit under the sanctions legislation updated in May. The institute, referring to the deputy minister of justice, reported that the claim, together with supplements, contains over 500 pages. The HACC has 10 days to consider it. After the decision of the HACC, the parties have five days to appeal it to the Appeals Chamber of the HACC, with the possibility of an extension for another 10 days.
The decision of the National Security and Defense Council to block Yevtushenkov’s assets was put into effect by a president’s decree dated May 24 this year, the Institute of Legislative Ideas said.
