Johnson on Ukraine-Russia talk: It is impossible to negotiate with someone who wants to take your life
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Boris Johnson, referring to the topic of potential negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, said that one should not come up with "small" plans for a truce with those who encroach on the lives of Ukrainians.
At a briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, Johnson said it is impossible to negotiate with someone who wants to attack you in the street, who wants to take your life along with your wallet. All that matters is to restore and preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine, according to him.
He also said that at present the Russian forces in the war against Ukraine are depleted. The head of the British government said the Russian military is already tired, they are suffering colossal losses and their resources are depleted. Their Russian mothers are crying.
In addition, according to Johnson, Ukraine’s partners will overcome the difficult economic situation and come out of these tests even stronger, because they will not be vulnerable to blackmail from Russia. He said Europe must get rid of dependence on Russian gas, which will be a huge geopolitical change for Europe and a disaster for Putin.
According to the Prime Minister of Great Britain, there are difficult months ahead, politicians will need to explain to the population of their countries why this happened. Johnson said that all together we will overcome this.
