Japanese Embassy does not plan to evacuate its staff or their families from Ukraine

KYIV. Jan 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Embassy of Japan said the evacuation of employees and their families from the territory of Ukraine is currently not planned, but the Japanese government recommends that Japanese citizens leave the country.

“The Embassy of Japan is not currently planning to evacuate its employees or members of their families,” the Japanese Embassy in Ukraine told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

Hiwever, the diplomatic mission said the Japanese government advised its citizens not to travel to Ukraine, and those already in Ukraine to use commercial flights to leave the country while they are available.

“The Government of Japan has issued a ‘Do Not Travel’ recommendation for all of Ukraine as of today [on Monday, January 24] due to growing tensions in the regions adjacent to its borders, due to the buildup of Russian troops and other factors, and due to constantly unpredictable. The Japanese government has strongly advised Japanese people in Ukraine to use commercial flights to leave the country while they are available,” the embassy said.
