It’s desirable that each family has stock of necessary basic things: warm clothes, candles, flashlights, batteries – Shmyhal
KYIV. Oct 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal urges citizens to prepare carefully for winter, in particular, to form a stock of such necessary basic things as warm clothes, candles, flashlights and batteries.
"We should all be prepared for temporary power outages. This is a military reality. Where it is necessary, in order to avoid overload of energy networks, the lights are turned off according to schedule," Shmyhal said at a government meeting on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister asked everyone to treat this situation with understanding.
"Let’s not embelish reality – this winter will be hard. Therefore, we once again urge everyone to prepare carefully for winter. It is desirable that each family has a stock of necessary basic things: warm clothes, candles, flashlights, batteries. It is important to prepare this in case light or heat disappears as a result of massive rocket attacks," he said.
Shmyhal noted that for its part, the government, together with local authorities, have accumulated a sufficient amount of energy resources, prepared networks, purchased additional equipment, and provides repair of damaged infrastructure.
"Now the readiness for the heating season in the country is more than 90%. Special heating points have also been prepared for the population. Evacuation plans have been developed in case it is impossible to quickly restore critical infrastructure," he said.
The prime minister said that after turning on the heating, the authorities urge to save gas and coal.
"Yes, it will mean a decrease in the temperature in the apartments. The minimum allowable value for this winter will be 16 degrees, and the average is 18 degrees. This is a necessity and this is our contribution to victory. After all, it depends on each of us how we will get through this winter," he stated.
