Iron ore exports contracts by 76% Ukraine in Jan, revenue by 67%
KYIV. Feb 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Mining enterprises of Ukraine in January of this year reduced the export of iron ore in kind by 75.9% compared to the same period last year, to 927,433 tonnes.
According to statistics released by the State Customs Service, over the specified period, foreign exchange earnings from the export of iron ore dropped by 67%, to $110.857 million.
Iron ore was exported mainly to Slovakia (28.65% of supplies in monetary terms), the Czech Republic (28.55%) and Austria (20.06%).
Last month, iron ore was imported to Ukraine for $1,000 in a total volume of 2 tonnes, while in January 2021 it was also imported for $1,000 in a volume of 1,000 tonnes. Imports in January 2023 were from Italy (100%).
