Invaders fire at 58 Ukrainian settlements on Ukraine’s Independence Day – First Dpty Head of Interior Ministry

KYIV. Aug 25 (Interfax-Ukraine) – First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Enin reported on the shelling of 58 settlements by Russian occupation troops over the past day on Wednesday, August 24, when Independence Day was celebrated in Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on its website on Thursday.

"August 24 is a sacred date for Russia, which they could not but use for their brutal deeds. Unfortunately, as we warned in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Russians spoiled yesterday’s independence day with manic cruelty. Firstly, the number of attacks on settlements has increased. Over the past day, the police recorded attacks on 58 settlements – this is a significantly higher number of attacks than usual. As a result of such attacks, dozens of people are killed and injured," Enin said in the telethon.

He also recalled that on Thursday there was a missile attack on a railway station in Dnipropetrovsk region. "Twenty-two people were killed, about 50 more were injured. And this may not be the final death toll. My condolences to the families," said the first deputy head of the Interior Ministry.

According to him, over the past day, a wave of false minings has swept across Ukraine. "Telephone terrorists mined railway stations in Vinnytsia, Rivne, Khmelnytsky. Anonymous reports were received about the mining of objects in Lviv, Mukacheve, Dnipro. In total, police units received 17 such reports, which referred to the mining of 118 objects. The total number of evacuated people was almost 3,800 people," Enin said.

As reported, search and rescue operations have been completed in the village of Chaplyne, Dnipropetrovsk region, which was shelled by Russian invaders the day before. As a result of the shelling of the residential sector and the railway station, 25 people were killed, two of them children, said Deputy head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko.
