Intl partners proposed considering idea of creating 'repentance fund' for Russian businessmen – Arakhamia

KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – International partners have proposed to consider the idea of creating a "repentance fund" for Russian businessmen, whose members would have to publicly acknowledge Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and pay a certain contribution for the restoration of the country, leader of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction David Arakhamia has said.

"There were such discussions, but not within the country, but at the level of our international partners. They suggested considering this idea. We need a model that will be approved at the level of all partner countries," he said in an interview with Forbes.

Arakhamia himself is ambivalent about this idea.

"Perhaps, it can work with businessmen who have Russian citizenship, but the whole business is located in other countries. In fact, it is not the Russian budget that suffers from sanctions, but, for example, the British one. If, at the same time, such a businessman is ready to give a certain amount to restore Ukraine I am tolerant of this. If we are talking about businessmen who pay taxes in Russia and thereby finance the war in Ukraine, I am against it," the head of the Servant of the People faction said.
