Infrastructure Ministry seeks to increase number of vessels under Ukrainian flag

KYIV. Aug 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov has set a task to increase the number of vessels under the Ukrainian flag.

On his Facebook page on the Day of the State Flag of Ukraine on Monday, August 23, he said that over the years of independence, the number of ships sailing under the Ukrainian flag has only decreased. The reason for this was not only the actions of the aggressor state, but also the corruption and inconvenience of public services.

"Our task is to return the popularity of the Ukrainian flag, which will testify not only to pride, but also to confidence in the state," Kubrakov wrote.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure, a total of 1,404 vessels are currently under the supervision of Ukraine, 1,365 of them sail under the flag of Ukraine, 103 conventional ships. Except for Ukraine, these include the flags of Palau, Cook Islands, Moldova, the Union of Comoros, Tanzania.
