Infrastructure Ministry proposes to cancel canal dues for vessels with draft of up to four meters
KYIV. Aug 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine proposes to change the procedure for collecting canal dues, freeing vessels with a draft of up to four meters from paying it, according to the draft order with this initiative published on its website.
According to the document, the Ministry of Infrastructure proposes to exempt the payments from canal dues for ships engaged in coastal or foreign navigation, which, according to the classification certificates issued by the classification society, are classified as inland or mixed navigation vessels and which, according to the measurement certificate with full cargo, have a draft of no more than four meters.
"Thanks to the development of such transportations, the transport potential of the inland waterway system will be used," the analytical note to the document says.
According to the ministry, the implementation of the order will also improve the state tariff policy in the transport sector.
