Inflation in Ukraine up to 0.8% in Jan, down to 26% in annual terms – statistics
KYIV. Feb 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The growth of consumer prices in Ukraine in January 2022 accelerated to 0.8% from 0.7% in December and November, which, however, is significantly lower than 2.5% in October and 1.9% in September, the State Statistics Service on Thursday.
According to it, in January last year, inflation was 1.3%, so in annual terms, in January 2023, it decreased to 26% from 26.6%.
Core inflation fell to 0.7% last month from 0.8% in December, 1.3% in November, 1.9% in October and 2.4% in September, the State Statistics Service said.
However, taking into account the fact that in January last year, core inflation was only 0.1%, in annual terms it increased from 22.6% to 23.3%.
As reported, the National Bank in January improved the inflation forecast for this year from 20.8% to 18.7%, in particular, the NBU expects it to decrease to 23.6% in the first quarter, and in the first half of the year – to 18.7%.
The government so far reiterates its 28% inflation forecast for this year.
