Individual announces plan to acquire 54.2% of Ostra insurer

KYIV. Sept 27 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Oleksandr Melnichik has announced his intention to acquire 54.239% of shares of Ostra Insurance Company (Odesa), according to the information disclosure system of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission.

It is noted that earlier Melnichik or persons affiliated with him did not own shares of this insurance company.

As reported, the National Bank of Ukraine on September 17 allowed Melnichik to directly acquire 54.239% of the charter capital and 55.102695% of the voting shares of PrJSC Ostra Insurance Company.

Ostra insurer is one of the first insurance companies in Ukraine. It was created in December 1990 on the basis of the regional representative office of Ingosstrakh insurer (Russia) in Ukraine.

The core business of Ostra is risk types of insurance: insurance of property, vehicles, cargo and ships, accident insurance and medical insurance.

According to the company’s website, its main shareholders are Yug-Invest LLC and Ostra Pandi Services LLC (both from Odesa).

Earlier it was reported that the NBU on April 21 suspended the license of Ostra.
