Indexation of pensions for all categories of pensioners to be carried out annually on March 1 – Shmyhal
KYIV. Sept 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The indexation of pensions in Ukraine for all categories of pensioners will be held annually on March 1, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said on Sunday.
"Pensions will be indexed for all categories of pensioners annually on March 1. This week, the Verkhovna Rada has supported a government bill that corrected the shortcomings of the 2017 pension reform, when the military or scientists were excluded from the indexation mechanism. We have restored justice. Also, the exact date of indexation will be spelled out in the law – March 1," Shmyhal wrote on Facebook.
He noted that thanks to comprehensive programs to support pensioners, average pensions have grown by almost 25% over a year and a half.
"In parallel with this, we are also working on the introduction of a funded pension system so that Ukrainians will finally receive decent pension payments," the head of government summed up.
