In Washington, President, First Lady honor memory of Holodomor victims of 1932-1933 in Ukraine

KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – During a working visit to the United States, President Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the Memorial to the Victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine, the press service of the Ukrainian president said.

The Head of State and his wife put symbolic sheaves of wheat at the foot of the Memorial. After that, members of the official delegation of Ukraine honored the memory of the victims of the terrible tragedy of the Ukrainian people, the official presidential website says.

A memorial to the victims of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 was opened in Washington on November 7, 2015. The project of the monument belongs to an American woman of Ukrainian origin Larysa Kurylas. The construction of the memorial was carried out at the expense of the state budget of Ukraine and private donations.
