If Normandy Four summit held with Merkel's participation, decisions, commitments to remain relevant for new German govt – Kuleba
KYIV. Sept 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Even if the summit of the leaders of the Normandy Four on the settlement in Donbas is held with the participation of Chancellor Angela Merkel, then his decisions and commitments taken at it will remain relevant for the new German government, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
"Germany has a hereditary foreign policy, therefore we are convinced that even if the Normandy summit is held with the participation of Mrs. Merkel, the decisions and commitments that will be taken will remain relevant for the new German government," Kuleba told reporters in Kyiv during Tuesday.
The minister said he looks at the process of coalition negotiations in Germany calmly.
"This will be a very pragmatic new German government. It will not be anti-Ukrainian, it will primarily deal with internal German issues. And Mr. Scholz [candidate for Chancellor from the Social Democratic Party Olaf Scholz], which won the parliamentary elections in Germany), and Mr. Laschet [candidate for German chancellor from the CDU Armin Laschet] is clear to us, but the most important thing here is what the coalition agreement with the liberals and ‘The Greens’ will be. Democrats, there may be differences in nuances, but fundamentally, I do not expect any drastic changes," Kuleba said.
