Hungarian president calls Christmas 'ceasefire' step towards peace
KYIV. Jan 6 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Hungarian President Katalin Novak called the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the Christmas "ceasefire" a step towards peace.
"Let the announced ceasefire throughout the orthodox Christmas be a step towards peace!" she said on Twitter.
As reported, Putin instructed Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to introduce a ceasefire from 12:00 on January 6 to 24:00 on January 7.
The document, called "instructions," also contains an appeal to the Ukrainian side to declare a ceasefire and give the opportunity to attend services on Christmas Eve, as well as on the Day of the Nativity of Christ.
