Hospitals in eight regions remain de-energized due to shelling – Health Ministry
KYIV. Dec 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Medical facilities in eight regions of Ukraine remain de-energized due to shelling, clinics run on generators.
According to the Ministry of Health, some hospitals in Kherson, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv and Kyiv regions are currently de-energized.
In addition, several medical institutions of the capital remain without centralized power supply.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health specifies that in these areas, critical equipment in hospitals, surgery rooms and intensive care units are powered by electric generators.
Currently, Ukrainian hospitals have more than 3,000 generators of various capacities, which make it possible to cover the minimum need for electricity. The reserve of fuel for the operation of generators is at least five days.
More than 2,000 more generators are scheduled to be delivered to hospitals in the near future.
"Each hospital that has a contract with the National Health Service has at least one generator that allows it to cover the minimum need for electricity and provides power to surgery rooms and intensive care units," the Ministry of Health reports, citing Deputy Minister of Health Bohdan Borukhovsky.
He also said that more than 1,000 Starlink stations are currently installed in hospitals.
