Holos declares conflict of interest in actions of NACP head

KYIV. Dec 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Holos political party has declared a conflict of interests in the actions of head of the National Agency for Corruption Prevention (NACP) Oleksandr Novikov.

In a statement released by the press service of the political force, it is noted that Novikov, on behalf of the President of Ukraine, at a meeting of the parliamentary committee on legal policy on November 25, presented the head of state’s proposals to the law "On Political Parties in Ukraine" (on improving the legal regulation of financing the activities of political parties).

At the same time, referring to the provisions of the second part of Article 4 of the Law On Corruption Prevention", Holos reports that the NACP is responsible to the Verkhovna Rada, controlled by it and accountable to the Cabinet of Ministers. The party also explained that among the powers, in particular, defined in article 12 of the Law On Corruption Prevention there is no power to present and defend the president’s proposals and to be a rapporteur on them.

In this regard, Holos demands that Novikov be held accountable for taking actions in conditions of a real conflict of interest and evading the obligation to settle it.
