Helicopter crash in Brovary kills 16 people, including three children – National Police

KYIV. Jan 18 (Interfax-Ukraine) – According to updated data, 16 people, including three children, died as a result of a helicopter crash in Brovary, Kyiv region, the National Police of Ukraine said.

"Currently, according to updated information, 16 people died as a result of this air crash, three of the dead are children," spokeswoman for the National Police of Ukraine Maryana Reva said on the air of the national telethon on Wednesday.

Earlier it was reported about 18 dead, three of them children.

According to Reva, 25 victims are in medical institutions, several victims are in serious condition in intensive care.

"Ten of the injured are children," she said.

The spokeswoman said investigative and operational groups of the National Police, the State Bureau of Investigations, the SBU continue to work on the spot, rescuers are working.

"The police are doing everything possible to collect as much information as possible about the circumstances of the incident, the police are talking to witnesses," she said.

Reva also addressed eyewitnesses of the helicopter crash: "If you were not interviewed at the scene, please contact the police… your information may be useful for the investigation." She said witnesses can provide information on the 102 line or contact the police on the spot.

Answering a question about how the Ministry of Internal Affairs works now, Reva said: "The department, of course, is oppressed, this is a terrible loss, a terrible tragedy, but we are working in the most collected mode."
