Health Ministry does not plan to force education workers to vaccinate
KYIV. Aug 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) –The Ministry of Health of Ukraine does not plan to force education workers to vaccinate, but reminds that it is completely voluntary and free, spokesman for the Ministry of Health Roman Borsch said.
"I will say that vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine is voluntary and free. So far, no compulsory vaccination is provided. We have a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers that clearly regulates in which cases an institution can or cannot work […] For now the Ministry does not consider any compulsory element or vaccination of any population groups," Borsch said on the air of the Ukraine 24 TV channel on Monday evening, August 30.
He said that as of August 29, in general, 890,000 vaccinations were carried out among educational staff.
At the same time, the speaker of the Ministry of Health said that teachers are one of the main risk groups, "after all, these are the people who are in daily contact with a large number of people in their work, and have an increased risk of contracting COVID-19."
According to him, when moving to the yellow or orange quarantine zone, educational institutions will be able to continue full-time education only if there are 80% or more vaccinated workers there.
"This is one of the first measures that should stimulate teachers and educators to vaccinate and thus protect themselves, their relatives, colleagues and thus provide full-time education […] We also continue, together with the Ministry of Education and Science, and awareness-raising work, we provide all the necessary information about the vaccination process, about vaccines," he said.
