Head of NATO military committee says that Ukraine receiving more and more modern weapons
TALLINN. Sept 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said that more and more new modern weapons are getting into Ukraine.
The Alliance as a whole has agreed to provide Ukraine with non-lethal assistance, but NATO countries independently provide Ukraine with military assistance, including arms supplies. Thus, over time, more and more new weapons get into Ukraine, he told reporters at a conference of the commanders of the alliance’s armed forces in Tallinn on Saturday.
According to the admiral, the meeting addressed the issue of support for Ukraine, as well as issues of improving the effectiveness of the defense of the eastern wing of NATO.
Bauer said that for the first time Finland and Sweden were invited to the conference, which, although not members of the union, but are on the path of membership in NATO.
On September 16-18, a conference of the committee, which includes the commanders of the armed forces of all the countries of the alliance, was held in Tallinn under the chairmanship of Bauer.
The commanders are considering the strategic objectives of the alliance, the implementation of the decisions of the Madrid NATO Summit on deterrence and defense.
The Military Committee meets twice a year for meetings of the heads of defense departments at the NATO headquarters in Brussels and once a year the conference is held in one of the allied countries.
