Head of Lviv Regional Administration discusses reconstruction of border crossings with U.S. Chargé d'Affaires

KYIV. May 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Head of Lviv regional military administration Maksym Kozytsky said that he had discussed with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Ukraine Kristina Kvien the needs and possible assistance to the region, in particular, the reconstruction of two border crossings on the border with Poland.

"We were talking about queues at the borders. They are connected with the influx of cars that Ukrainians want to bring into Ukraine, while they have set a zero excise duty for customs clearance. The U.S. Embassy is ready to help with equipment to speed up the movement of queues, so we will continue negotiations. I also stressed the need for reconstruction of two crossings – in order to increase the flow of goods and improve the logistics of rail transportation," Kozytsky wrote in Telegram on Monday.

He said that this is especially relevant now for Ukraine in the conditions of closed seaports. According to the head of the regional administration, Kvien promised that she would talk with the Polish side on this issue.

"Ukraine is very strong, but we want to do everything we can for additional support," Kvien said during the meeting.
