KYIV. Oct 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has granted permission to carry out a special pretrial investigation against the former board chairman of PrivatBank, the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) has reported.

"On October 28, 2021, the investigative judge of the HACC granted the petition of a NABU detective, agreed by a SAPO prosecutor, to grant permission to carry out a special pretrial investigation (in absentia) against the former board chairman of PrivatBank," the SAPO said on Telegram.

The court said that this decision will allow completing the pretrial investigation against the suspect, who is hiding from investigators outside the territory of Ukraine.

The decision of the HACC is not subject to appeal.

In turn, NGO Anti-Corruption Action Center (the AntAC) in Telegram reported that the ex-board chairman of PrivatBank Olkesandr Dubilet took part in a videoconference.

"He showed a Ukrainian and Israeli passport. The banker is not going to return to Ukraine, because here he is allegedly "in danger," the AntAC said.
