Greece to provide 40 Soviet infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine – Ministry of Defense
KYIV. Sept 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Greece will hand over 40 Soviet infantry fighting vehicles (BMP-1) to Ukraine, the Greek Ministry of Defense reports.
"In accordance with the decision of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, National Defense Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos and German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht agreed to transfer 40 armored vehicles from Greece to Ukraine in order to support the defense of Ukraine," the report says.
As part of the "circular exchange" scheme, this technique is provided in exchange for the same number of more modern German Marder.
