Govt invites large retailers to participate in tenders of Defense Ministry
KYIV. March 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At a meeting with the largest retail chains with the participation of representatives of the President’s Office, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko invited retailers to take part in tenders of the Ministry of Defense for the purchase of food products.
“The state is interested in large retail chains taking part in the supply of food for the army. Now companies that purchase products from large retail chains are engaged in the supply of food products. Since these goods are already in your range, you need to solve the logistics issue,” the ministry’s press service quotes her words on Wednesday.
Svyrydenko stressed that the joint task is to ensure the uninterrupted supply of food to the army.
The Ministry of Economy indicated that retail representatives showed interest in this proposal, but noted the need for further detailed study.
It is reported that during the meeting, the parties also discussed other problematic issues of the industry, in particular, legislative initiatives related to retail trade, relations with manufacturers, personnel reserves, credit programs, as well as rules for the sale of alcoholic beverages.
According to the release, in addition, topical issues of price regulation and solving the problems of reducing debts to suppliers were raised.
As reported with reference to a study by the Retail Association of Ukraine, about 40 Ukrainian retailers from various segments transferred humanitarian and military assistance totaling UAH 2.7 billion from the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion into Ukraine and until the end of 2022.
