Govt approves quotas for narcotic and psychotropic drugs for 2022
KYIV. Sept 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved quotas for the production, manufacture, storage, import/export of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and the cultivation of plants containing them.
According to the website of the Ministry of Health, the government made the relevant decision at a meeting on Tuesday.
The ministry clarifies that the quotas were formed based on the needs of healthcare institutions and business entities.
"For the first time in seven years, the government has taken an important step by setting quotas. This demonstrates the government’s fundamental focus on creating effective means of state supervision, even under martial law," Health Minister Viktor Liashko said.
The resolution, in particular, will improve control over the distribution and prevention of diversion into illicit circulation of medicines containing narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, as well as create clear and measurable indicators according to which risks from the implementation of economic activities for the circulation of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors will be assessed.
In addition, the resolution will make it possible to more effectively fulfill the requirements of the 1961 UN Conventions on Narcotic Drugs, on Psychotropic Substances of 1971 and the Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances of 1988.
