Govt approves four draft laws aimed at joining Ukraine to EU Digital Single Market

KYIV. Sept 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at a meeting on Wednesday approved four bills on electronic identification and electronic trust services.

According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, one of the goals of the adoption of these bills is Ukraine’s accession to the European Union’s Digital Single Market.

"In practice, this is the absence of barriers to e-commerce between Ukraine and the EU or the use of electronic digital signatures in foreign economic activity. All this will accelerate the development and use of CardID, BankID, MobileID technologies. Thanks to the high-quality implementation of these laws, electronic signatures, electronic stamps will become an absolute commonplace for business," he said during a government meeting.

In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers supported the updated draft law pursuant to the Association Agreement with the EU, which will eliminate a number of gaps, in particular in the field of electronic commerce.

"Today there is a problem when a person cannot complain or return a product purchased on the Internet. We propose to fix this by introducing a mechanism for voluntary identification of a seller in the register of online stores," Shmyhal said on Telegram.
