Govt allocates UAH 420 mln to provide humanitarian aid to Ethiopia, Somalia
KYIV. Sept 19 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers allocated UAH 420 million to the State Emergency Service to provide humanitarian assistance to Ethiopia and Somalia.
According to resolution No. 1040 of September 16, the government allocated UAH 420 million to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (for the State Emergency Service) to reimburse the cost of wheat grain (not lower than third grade) in the amount of up to 50,000 metric tonnes in order to provide humanitarian assistance to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was instructed to coordinate with the United Nations and the competent authorities of Ethiopia and Somalia on the delivery and payment for the transportation of grain from the Odesa seaport to the ports of these countries at the expense of international organizations.
It is noted that the provision of humanitarian assistance will be carried out using wheat grain, owned by the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine.
