Germany starts manufacturing RCH 155 self-propelled guns for Ukraine
KYIV. Jan 2 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The German engineering company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has started production of RCH 155 boxer remotely controlled howitzers for Ukraine, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann advisor Nicholas Drummond said in Twitter.
"Sometimes combining two proven solutions in a new concept can be revolutionary while avoiding significant risk. Boxer RCH155 production for Ukraine has commenced," Drummond wrote.
In December, the German government officially confirmed that it was preparing 18 units of the latest RCH 155 units for Ukraine.
Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov sent a corresponding request to Germany in July 2022.
The howitzer is operated by a crew of two. The combat load is 30 fused rounds. The manufacturer claims that the firing range is 40 km and 52 km with Very Long Range Artillery Projectiles (VLAP).
