Georgian President Zourabichvili welcomes decision to transfer Saakashvili to military hospital in Gori
TBILISI. Nov 19 (Interfax) – Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has welcomed the decision to transfer former President Mikheil Saakashvili to a military hospital in the city of Gori as an institution that meets all modern medical and security standards.
"This decision fully accommodates the Strasbourg Court’s request for the former president to end his hunger strike," Zourabichvili said in a statement.
Zourabichvili also welcomed the decision by opposition activists not to stage demonstrations near the Gori military hospital while Saakashvili receives treatment there. "Today’s decision is a step forward, which should ensure peace in society and stability in the country," she said.
