Georgian opposition supporters wrap up protest near presidential residence in Tbilisi

TBILISI. Nov 15 (Interfax) – The march and the protest held by Georgian opposition supporters on Monday in the center of Tbilisi have ended peacefully, an Interfax correspondent reported.

A large number of people took part in the protest, but there were more police officers than protesters present at the site during the event.

"The authorities are irritated that we are holding peaceful protests, which will continue on a daily basis until our demands to transfer [former Georgian President] Mikheil Saakashvili to a civilian clinic and to call early parliamentary elections are met," Gigi Ugulava, a Georgian opposition leader, told journalists at the rally outside the Georgian presidential residence.

Opposition leader Nikanor Melia told supporters on Monday evening that opposition protests would continue on Tuesday.
