General Staff of Armed Forces of Ukraine adopts multiple launch rocket system 'Verba' developed by Ukrainian scientists

KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Multiple launch rocket system ‘Verba’ (‘Willow’) which was developed by the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, is adopted by the Ukrainian army, the press service of the state concern Ukroboronprom reported on Wednesday, September 15.

Willow digital systems allow the crew to control the fire, aim and even reload automatically. The ammunition of this MLRS consists of 40 122-mm rockets that can destroy targets at a distance of up to 40 kilometers. But recharging the full package takes only ten minutes," the report said. It notes that the use of digital fire control systems has greatly reduced the time to open fire, and thanks to the new system of stabilization of the platform was able to significantly improve accuracy.

"In addition, modern digital communication systems have been installed on the Verba for the secure transmission of information. In combination with the KrAZ off-road chassis, this ensures high combat efficiency and mobility of the ‘Verba’ on the battlefield," the concern said.

They reported that the ‘Verba’ was developed on the basis of the combat BM-21 "Hrad," but the launcher received a number of improvements, in particular, the navigation, communication, alignment and stabilization of the platform.
