Gazprom ready to consider new contracts to increase gas supplies to Europe – Peskov

MOSCOW. Sept 28 (Interfax) – Gazprom is ready to sign new long-term contracts to increase gas supplies to Europe in order to satisfy growing requirements, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Needless to say, we are watching how the spot market is developing in Europe. The factors that are putting pressure on the price and leading to such surging growth are clear to specialists; these are objective factors, we are all going to have to face them going forward," Peskov told reporters when asked about Russia’s attitude toward Europe’s concern regarding gas price growth and whether the Russian Federation is ready to increase supplies in the near future.

He recalled that Gazprom is currently close to all-time record gas supplies to European consumers; the company is fully meeting its obligations and even exceeding them.

"Of course, Gazprom is ready to consider new contracts, long-term contracts […] in order to satisfy the growing needs of European consumers for natural gas. Obviously, the spot market can only partially meet the requirements for smooth development," Peskov said.
