Gas price in Europe surges to $1,046/1,000 cubic meters after suspension of Nord Stream 2 certification

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) – The spot price for gas in Europe soared to $1,046 per 1,000 cubic meters (for the first time since October 26) after news of the suspension of Nord Stream 2 certification by Germany’s regulator.

The gas price is rising for the second day after Gazprom refused to book the Yamal-Europe pipeline for December. At the same time, in theory, the Russian company retains the ability to use the pipeline, booking capacity at short-term auctions.

On Tuesday afternoon, the price of the nearest (December) TTF futures on the ICE Futures exchange reached EUR88.9 per MWh, or $1,046 per 1,000 cubic meters.

The gas price reached its lowest value for the month at the very beginning of November – $747 per 1,000 cubic meters.
